BRYAR SELECTED TO LEAD GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY PROGRAM
WEBSTER GROVES, MO, March 10, 2020: Webster Groves High School is pleased to announce that Alison Bryar has been selected to be the next head coach of their girls cross country program. Bryar is currently in her first year as a social studies teacher at WGHS. This will be her first coaching assignment for the Statesmen.
Mrs. Bryar grew up in the St. Louis area and attended Parkway South High School before continuing on to Truman State University where she played NCAA Division II women’s soccer for four years. Before coming to WGHS, she worked the previous four years at Boonville High School where she also coached soccer.
In regards to her transition from coaching soccer to cross country, Mrs. Bryar stated, “since graduating from Truman State, I have turned to running as a means of maintaining my fitness and maintaining my peace of mind. I enjoy participating in runs, both long and short, and have ran the Chicago Marathon twice and the Nashville Half-Marathon once. I have fallen in love with the Webster Groves community and school district. I am very excited to combine my dedication for our students, my love of running, and my passion for athletics and competition. I hope to coach our young women to push themselves; to feel confident in what they can accomplish with the support of their teammates and their own grit. I intend to grow this program into the successful running institution that I know it can be.”
WGHS Athletic Director Jerry Collins said, “We are very excited to have Coach Bryar join our coaching staff. In her first year at WGHS, she has impressed us with her ability to connect with students and her desire to be an excellent educator. Those are two characteristics that will serve her well in her new role leading the young women in our cross country program.”
