Athletic Physicals Now Valid for Two Years
An important change to be aware of is that the MSHSAA will now allow us to accept physicals as valid for up to two years from the date it was issued (unless the physician specifically notes that it is only valid for one year). For the purposes of our tracking everyone’s most recent physical dates and when they expire, we will ask that each season that a student plans to participate that their physical will be valid for that entire season. We will make an effort to notify the students and parents whose physicals will expire at least 60 days prior to the start of that season. To start the 2019-20 school year, all returning WGHS athletes who had a valid physical on file for last school year will still be covered for this school year at least through the fall and winter seasons.
If your student is still getting an annual physical, please keep sending them to us as you get them and we will update our records with their most recent date and also allow our school nurse and athletic trainer to be aware of any specific notes from your child’s physician that they need to know. Below is a link to a new form from the MSHSAA that indicates the physical is valid for two years. If your child has already had a recent physical you don’t need to get the new form completed, however, please use this attached form for all future physicals. You may submit copies of physicals to the WGHS activities office by mailing or dropping off hard copies to WGHS; faxing them directly to the activities office at 314-918-4651; or scanning and emailing them to email@example.com.
